Why important:
- It's cheap
- It can be highly targeted
- It works. People need (and want) reminders.
Examples:
- Invitation list for an event.
- Announcing special product promotions
- "Personalized" follow-up
Do's:
- Use email marketing
- Use a program that personalizes the sending
- Have tools for building and managing email lists
- Put your key message up front.
- Provide a way for people to sign up.
- Provide a way for people to opt out.
Don'ts:
- Abuse email marketing
- Send in HTML only, some people can't read it.
- Have the layout make it difficult to get the message.
