E-MARKETING >> Using a Website as a Brochure
Problems, solutions and examples:
- Don't want to spend much money.
- Have a site that is out of date and hard/expensive to maintain.
- Don't know where to begin.
- Don't like working with computers, but need a website.
A couple of examples:
Do's:
- Include the following standard categories: "Home", "About us", and
"Contact" if you have a website that is more than one page.
- Test your website in more than one browser. Good candidates are IE 5.0, IE 6.0, and Mozilla Firefox. You may also need to consider PDAs, which use older browser technology and don't support all plugins (Java, Flash, etc).
- Include photos and other visually interesting material if you want your site to look professional.
- Have someone else look at your website and give constructive feedback.
- Put your website on your business card.
Don'ts:
- Pick a domain name that is easily misspelled or hard to remember.
- Put a copyright notice on that is several years old. This indicates that you haven't done anything with your website.
- Leave anything saying "under construction". It is better to provide a simple site and hide your construction.
- Put information on your website that your unwilling to share with the whole world.
